Support For The Blind

I dont know why its so hard for most americans to think and use their own brain that God gave them and be INDEPENDENT! But I just dont understand why most americans just vote straight ticket no matter what their opinions or beliefs are. If they are a republican they vote republican, if they are democrat they vote democrat. Whats the point in this?

I don't think our culture necessarily appreciates thinking and acting in a deliberate manner. American culture values action. I think that is was the appeal of George W. Bush over Gore and Kerry. Nothing to do with their party affiliation. The GOP could have backed McCain in 2000 and the country would be better for it, I am quite sure, but they did not. Americans like simple, immediate solutions and tend to view thinking as elitist. I think the party system does have the strength of being able to organize effectively but I believe that the problem is that both fail to consistently organize around the long-term well-being of society. I think they have discouraged thinking and instead organized around short-term gains for narrow and usually monied interests. I am encouraged by the election of Obama but not entirely convinced that our culture is ready to be challenged to think beyond immediate, personal interests that require shared sacrifice.

Or does that require too much thought for them?

They don't regret Bush's abuses. If Obama did the same stuff they'd be totally outraged. Hell, they have to -make up- stuff about Obama.

But Republicans have never believed the laws and the Constitution applied to -them-.

What they do regret is Bush's massive failure. They don't admit it, though. They want things to get a lot worse in the US so they can blame all the problems on Obama and get back in power.

If suddenly you went blind for some reason what would you do about the school you went to? Would you have to go to a diffrent school or if the school supported blind people how would you learn?

There are schools for blind.

But most public schools have special education programs that will accomodate people who are vision impaired.
If the person stayed in public school, they would most likely stay integrated in the same classes as before-- Only they would be on an IEP (individualized educational plan). The person would also need to have a guide to walk with them to their classes and sit with them in class for assistance. (called a one on one aide.)

I would guess they would need to learn brail as most common school text books can be ordered in brail. The aide or specialist would also have to transcribe the lessons.

I don't have anything against Thompson, but it does strike me as odd/interesting that he is receiving such high numbers and support without anyone knowing what he's about or anything (clearly there are those that do know what he's about, but I've read quotes in articles and people are holding him up on a pedestal without knowing anything). Is this bothersome? Does is at all scare anyone to think Thompson is taking votes away from qualified candidates without proving his own qualifications? Is it because he's an actor and that alone makes people think he's like Reagan? That's my guess, which would be a shame. Any thoughts?
For those who question whether I have done my research, I have. However, I have seen a lot of others, on TV, in articles, etc. who are obviously giving their support blindly.

Also, I don't disagree with the answerer who said there isn't much out there about Obama (his record is just short). Again, he does have the support of Oprah! That should be enough shouldn't it?

Politics is all about recognition because alot of people dont want to research each candidate and who is more recognizable than an actor.
