ok, i have to do a project on this charity, guide dogs for the blind, and i nedd to know who started it , cause in the website it wont tell me. that's it. thanks( i noe wat a waste of 5 points)
Wiki has the correct information about the founders of Guide Dogs for the Blind ( with facilities in San Rafael, California and Boring, Oregon, but started in Los Gatos, California) ( also known as GDB) on their site. GDB is not the same as The Seeing Eye, which is in New Jersey.
Edit: If you are speaking of the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, they are in Smithtown, New York, and all their info is also to be found on Wiki as well.
I met Lois Merrihew once after she retired to Sonora, California, where I grew up.
Raising guide dogs for the blind is very rewarding and a good excuse to be around puppies all the time.
When I was a kid we used to save up all our aluminium foil and my nan would send it off to the Guide Dogs for the Blind.
We use lots of tinfoil in my work and I'd love to help another charity, as it seems the Guide Dogs don't collect it anymore.
Anyone know of a good cause that might want it?
Thanks!
i am in england
I know there are many that are in the UK that still collect it but from my research none in the U.S.
Does anyone remember saving the metal milk bottle tops for the 'guide dogs for the blind' charity?
Do they still do it?
I've got loads.
I love milk.
Yes I remember them.
No they don't still do it (they should).
I gave all of mine to charity.
Me too.
But how will i know when i am going to hit the ground ?
Reply ! dont worry the lead on your guide dog will go slack !

At school for RS (Religious Studies) we have to come in front of a class of 13/14 year old girls and I need to talk for 5 minutes about a given charity. My charity is Children in Need. I can talk any aspect about it.Many others were given this charity so I need something original and different to talk about.
What could I do to maybe involve the audience?
I have a whiteboard, computer ,a large screen television ,and DVD player I can use.
Thanks in Advance
All suggestions will be taken into account post an answer even if you just have a good topic please.
Last year some girls were given a guide dogs charity and focused on: What is it like to blind in today's world?
they had blindfolds and asked people to complete small challenges and obstacle courses.
They got quite a high grade for that.
Do you think I should work in a partner for it?
I do have some ideas but I am a bit stuck. Anything will Help.

Make some handouts to give the audience a breif overview first of what you are going to talk about...dont put too much detail in though as they wont want to read too much.
Make a quiz for the audience to do at the end to see if they understood your presentation.
Find a DVD on youtube to do with your presentation...just make sure to reference it obv...you dont wanna get done for plagiarism!
Also make sure you use lots of pictures and colourful backgrounds to engage your audience because like i say they will lose interest if there is too much writing. I do a lot of presentations so i know what i'm on about lol.
Volunteer roadshow to held Guide Dogs charity
Various speakers from Guide Dogs who will be at the event to answer any questions about the organisation or volunteering. In addition, a local guide dog owner already benefiting from the charity's work will be there to talk about their own involvement with the charity and the difference that having a guide dog has made to them.
Regional volunteering coordinator for Guide Dogs, Rebekah Shepherd, said: "There are so many ways to volunteer. In particular we are looking for fundraisers to form part of the Skegness branch. Volunteering is fun and rewarding – you know you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially-sighted people."
Travels of a Texas Gal: Guide Dogs for the Blind 10K Fun Run
London. However, the second reason, which is no longer an obstacle, was that neither the Budman nor Hachie Gal was licensed to drive on the UK roads. Not anymore! With a little role reversal (Hachie Gal as pilot as the licensed driver to date; Budman as co-pilot and navigator), we set off for the West Midlands of the UK, namely Coventry and Warwick. A few sights from the Guide Dog Experience! Besides the Guide Dog demonstrations, there were exhibits on every Guide Dog branch, as well as lots of other dog service and charity organizations...service dogs for police, fire, security...assist dogs for the blind, deaf, physically disabled, therapy, and children...agility and herding demonstrations...and...
